Johan Marin joined WOWT 6 News in September 2022.
He is originally from Quito, Ecuador, but calls Kansas City home. He graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in broadcast journalism and strategic communications.
During his time in college, Johan interned at KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kan., and WDAF-TV in Kansas City, Mo., where he wrote and produced his own stories related to crime, government, and local business. He also was a College Associate with Fox News and assisted in the Fox News Multimedia Reporters program.
Even at a young age, Johan has always had a passion for public speaking and writing — and always knew television news was the path for him. Now being in the television news business, he wants to provide for marginalized communities as a bilingual journalist.
When Johan is not in the field reporting stories, you can find him hanging out with his family and friends, working out, going on hikes, traveling, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and trying the best dessert shops in town.
