A member of the WOWT staff since 1990, Roger Hamer has covered everything from National Championship games to presidential visits.

A life-long resident of the Omaha area, Hamer is a Producer/Photographer and has won more than 100 awards for his work during his 29-year television career. He's the only Omaha Television Photographer to win a National Edward R. Murrow award.

"I've been very fortunate to have a lot of good people around me during my career," Hamer said.

He enjoys telling the stories of the people who live in the area.

"The people of the Midwest are like no other," Hamer said. "They are hard-working, passionate and real roll-up-your-sleeves folks that will help their neighbor in times of crisis."

A graduate of Omaha Benson High School, Hamer holds undergraduate degrees in Broadcast News and Education and a Masters Degree in Communication from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He also teaches Broadcasting at the university.

"I think it's important to give back," Hamer said. "A lot of people helped me get started and develop and I think I owe it to them to pass that knowledge along."

Hamer is married to Patti and they have two children, Constance and Michael.

Hamer enjoys "tinkering," reading, photography, and sports. Hamer is a dedicated Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.

A second-generation television news producer/photographer in the Omaha area, his father Dave worked in the industry for 33 years, retiring from WOWT in 1991.
