OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Ole Miss wins its first national Championship in baseball sweeping the Oklahoma Sooners in two games, the Rebels won game two 4-2. It was a come from behind effort with three runs in the eighth inning thanks in part to two wild pitches by the Sooners.

It took some time to get the bats going, Jacob Gonzalez started the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth inning for Ole Miss. Oklahoma came back in the top of the seventh with two runs to take the lead, Jackson Nicklaus drove one in with a RBI double and Kendall Pettis walked with the bases loaded. In the bottom of the eighth the Rebels tied the game at two with a Gonzalez RBI single. The third run which was also the game winner was scored off a wild pitch and Gonzalez scored the fourth run off another wild pitch.

This is only the second NCAA team national championship in school history for Ole Miss. The Rebels were one of the last four teams into the field of 64, hard to find anyone outside of Oxford who anticipated a run like this a couple weeks ago. The Rebels only lost one game in the CWS, it was also the only game they lost in the NCAA tournament
