LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Authorities are investigating a deadly crash in Greenwood on Sunday that killed one person and sent another to an area hospital.

The two vehicle crash happened on Highway 6 just west of Church Road, in front of Bakers Candies just before 5 p.m.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, 88-year-old Geraldine Frank of Greenwood was westbound on Highway 6 when she struck the rear of a vehicle that was also westbound and waiting to turn into Bakers Candies.

Frank and the 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue she was driving ran off the road and came to rest on a hill. Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Frank was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

A 42-year-old woman from Elmwood was in the other vehicle and taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The sheriff’s office said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
