Wanted man arrested at Council Bluffs gas station following standoff
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - Council Bluffs Police have arrested and charged a man after an hours-long standoff Monday afternoon.
Police tell 6 News police responded at about 2:40 p.m. to assist a Pottawattamie County deputy who identified 38-year-old Jake Flynn in a white Chevy Silverado that had been reported stolen.
The vehicle pulled into the Mega Saver at 9th Avenue and 36th Street. Flynn then entered the convenience store and barricaded himself in the cooler inside the store.
The deputy positively identified Flynn as he entered the store. He had four warrants for his arrest; two felonies and two misdemeanors.
Council Bluffs Police negotiators and emergency services responded to the scene.
Flynn was taken into custody without incident after about 2 1/2 hours. No one was reported injured. He is charged with theft and criminal mischief in addition to the outstanding warrants for his arrest.
